These marble fragments are from the memorial to Rev. Charles Scott (d. 1762) on the south wall of the medieval cloister. Charles Ball described the marble in 1818, when it was still attached to the base of the memorial:

Upon the base of this monument, a group of Children or Genii are represented weeping over various emblems of the sciences, and pointing to an oval tablet bearing the profile of the deceased.
