The bucket-shaped teabowl has a gold ground reserved with white prunus blossom, and the three leaf-shaped panels contain pink and yellow flower sprays. Because it was so expensive, tea was drunk in small teabowls during the first half of the 18th century. The finest of the pieces exported to Europe at that time were these elaborately decorated eggshell teabowls.
