Engraved with the arms of Wykeham and the arms of Crawhall.
Fritz Portmore Crawhall was a Commoner (I, 1908) and Scholar (1909-14) of Winchester College. He was a Scholar Elect of Merton College when he enlisted as a Second-Lieutenant in the King’s Rifle Corps. Crawhall was killed in action at Givenchy-lez-la-Bassee on 10th March 1915, during the Battle of Neuve Chapelle.
The tankard was presented by Crawhall’s father, the Revd Edmund Isaac Laroche Crawhall, for the use of College prefects.
