The dish is painted in the 15th-century style with a stylised lotus spray in the centre, the border and reverse each with similar linked lotus garlands within double circles, the reverse has a Jiajing six-character mark in underglaze blue within a double circle. A Xuande-marked original is in the Percival David Collection (No. A677), now in the British Museum.
