The Daunians were a tribe of the lapygian people, who came from Illyria and lived in southern Italy for most of the first millennium BC. Their pottery was produced in two main centres in northern Apulia, and strongly influenced by Greek wares. This drinking cup imitates a Greek form known as a kantharos, distinguished by its tall, looping handles.
