The cover ornamented with twisted wire around the rim and surmounted by a rose of Winchester surrounded by six lilies of Eton. Engraved with the arms of Eton College and Winchester College. With a turned cup-stand of English oak, a silver rose in the centre. Engraved with the arms of Wykeham and the arms of Eton.
Silver cups were exchanged to commemorate a century of cricket matches between Eton and Winchester. Omar Ramsden designed a number of similar covered cups, for example one from 1927 formerly in the Campbell Collection, sold Sotheby’s 20/4/2005, lot. 33.
