The turquoise ground is incised and filled in white and yellow (partly burned brown) with formal lotuses, the tendrils and leaves in pale aubergine, the shoulder with similar decoration and white ruyi lappets, the restored neck with cloud scrolls, the base with false gadroons, the interior with a green glaze, the underside of the base unglazed.

At the time of purchase this jar was considered to have been made well before 1500.
