Horseshoe vetch is a calciole (found only on chalk and limestone) and is the exclusive food plant of the caterpillars of chalkhill blue (Polyommatus coridon) and Adonis blue (Polyommatus bellargus) butterflies.

Collected on 8^th June 1915 from Alton Road in Hampshire.
