Two women in an interior. One is seated, perhaps juggling with balls of wool. The other holds a wool basket aloft. Wool-working was an important activity for Athenian women, and the wool basket seems often to have functioned as a sign of domestic virtue.

Provenance: Gift of Miss Preston before 1909. Stolen from Winchester in 1964/65 and sold on the London and New York markets. Returned from a private collection in Texas in November 2002
